*IUOB*, formerly controlled by The Federation, gained leverage over other conglomerates by conducting espionage operations. By the end of the war, its subsidiary *Ophanim* had uncovered enough compromising secrets to pose a serious threat to each of them, while also proving especially useful as a consultant for their business strategies. By negotiating non-disclosure agreements on key issues, *IUOB* was able to become an essential actor in the industrial landscape of Atlas, and to regain its independence.
